How to use music on your wedding day.

Planning the music for your wedding day is one of the most time consuming aspects of planning. Often we see couples aren’t sure what to have because, let’s be honest, it’s not common to really ever have booked musicians before planning a wedding. Many weddings people attend the musicians don’t quite strike the right chord and it can leave people worried about not getting it right and at worst, having bad musicians.

We’re happy to say that Italy is full of plenty of good musicians and music is a reliable way of adding some more atmosphere to the different  parts of your day and wowing, even surprising your guests.

So, how to choose? Have a little think…

What do YOU like to listen to?

What mood do you want to create?

What’s your budget?

Are there any moments you can perfectly imagine? Ie. It HAS to be a live performance of a specific first dance song

We use these questions to understand what mix of musicians is going to work for each couple and our proposals start here. We familiarise our couples with the types of musicians that are out there and can work for their budget and we go back and forwards until it’s right. This is in fact how we work on sourcing every supplier that makes up each of our weddings.

A tenor performs in front of this lucky wedding dinner.

Now something we get a kick out of is getting the best bang for your buck…we’re not in to haggling and believe all suppliers are very much worth what they charge, but we consider the aspects required and try and make the most of the spend that our couples are making. For example, some musicians can come for the whole day and do everything. So you could book a band and from that, you get:

  • A solo guitarist at the ceremony

  • Duo at aperitif

  • PA system at dinner with backing music

  • Band at the party

  • A member of the band DJ’s

If the band are game, this is certainly the best way to make the most of having a band at your wedding, especially if they’re coming over from the UK. Expect to pay for them playing at the additional parts of the day and providing lots of food and drink to keep them energised for the main performance!

If you are thinking about flying a band over consider: transfers to airport both sides, accommodation, flights, baggage, and even food and drink. On top of that you’ve got to hire all or most of their musical equipment in Italy. A £4k band can soon cost £10k upwards with expenses and equipment.
